Texas Small Businesses Praise DoubleHorns Ability to Seamlessly Work with their Existing Phone Systems

Austin, TX, January 2011 DoubleHorn announced today significant technological advances in its telecommunications solutions, which allow it to operate seamlessly with the hardware of other vendors, such as Toshiba Strata, Panasonic, Nortel Norstar, Avaya, and Digium.

While many companies have welcomed our hosted solution as a convenient and cost-effective way to communicate both internally and externally, there remains a significant opportunity to migrate customers who maintain legacy PBX, KTS and contact center systems to a lower operational cost solution, said Ken Ryon, VP Engineering of DoubleHorn. As a customer-centric organization, we believe it is important to meet the needs of ALL of our potential customers. Embracing interoperability of premise-based PBX and Key Telephone Systems is yet another way to accomplish that.

Ryon does not have to convince two Texas-based businesses — Epic Merchant Energy or Kids R Kids Cedar Park (TX) of the benefits of interoperability.

Epic Merchant Energy, a financial trading and power marketing firm in Houston, was tired of the unreliable service they were getting from another provider when they enlisted a business communications consultant for help last summer.

There were numerous issues we were having with the provider, like dropped calls, or the phone lines going down, said Terrence Hayes, Epics Infrastructure Manager. Our communications consultant recommended DoubleHorn to us. In August, DoubleHorn began managing the T-1, which connects to an Adtran box, then a Norstar telephone system. The experience has been flawless.

Unlike Epic, Kids R Kids Cedar Park (TX) was starting fresh with its business, with no previous provider. A franchise operation in the daycare space, it needed a technology partner that could interphase with a telephone, computer and video monitoring system.

DoubleHorn was the ideal partner for us, said Owner Patrick Murphey. They came in and immediately had a plan to get us up and running. DoubleHorn was extremely flexible, in making requested changes on the fly, for example. They have been terrific to work with.

Ryon noted that the experience of the customers stems from the fact that DoubleHorn has a strong customer base of hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses across Texas.

Our technologists have first-hand experience working with virtually every piece of equipment in the telecommunications industry; said, Ryon. We are able to apply that knowledge to create a solution that works, allowing the business owner to focus more on sustaining and growing their business, rather than worrying about the reliability of their telecommunications system.
