AISD Uses High-speed Internet to Access E-books
Textbooks may soon be a thing of the past in the Austin Independent School District (AISD) because they are slowly moving toward e-textbooks.
The school district already has computer labs with desktops and netbook laptops but they will soon be using their high-speed Internet to use e-textbooks so that students will not have to carry around heavy books.
The 2010-2011 school year is the first year that schools had the option to chose how much of their funding for textbooks could be used for print or electronic.
There are many types of e-textbooks, but the most common is when an electronic textbook is in an electronic device in PDF form.
